The Christmas Intruder Interesting but provocative title! I apologise if I offend anyone But what is Christmas? Christ is its root word, Christmas is the Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and is held on 25 th December. A bit of history here, to get a sense of the accuracy of the date. The first chapter of the Gospel of Luke places the appearance of the Angel Gabriel to Zechariah, while he was worshipping God in the temple during the observance of Yom Kippu, which is celebrated around October. The same chapter tells us that Jesus was conveived six months after John the Baptist, that places the conception of Jesus around March and hence born in late December. The true meaning of Christmas was distorted in the 19 th century and had nothing to do with Christ. It was a shift from a religious to secular culture.
